Dog Shoots Man of the Day: A man in Utah got a butt full of birdshot after his dog accidentally stepped on his shotgun.

46-year-old Robert Cottingham was duck hunting with his son near a bird refuge at the north end of the Great Salt Lake, when his yellow lab Piper jumped on the boat and onto a loaded 12-gauge shotgun Cottingham has left resting on the bow.

Luckily, a duck decoy bore the brunt of the birdshot blast, but 27 pellets still made their way into Cottingham’s lower back and butt.

Medics treated him at the scene and he is expected to be the butt of the jokes of his hunting buddies for years to come.
